Cosmetic Services
At MK Dentistry, we specialize in cosmetic services. Our aim is to create a long-lasting, functional, and beautiful smile. We offer a wide variety of services that will help you reach your goal.
Veneers
A veneer is a very thin sheath of porcelain that beautifies and reinforces the tooth structure. A single veneer can be used to help a discolored tooth better match adjacent teeth, or multiple veneers can be used to harmonize a smile. Minimal to no tooth preparation is normally needed, meaning that the tooth is drilled only a very small amount, usually less than 1 mm.
Whitening
Many foods and drinks can lead to tooth staining, which cannot be simply removed by brushing our teeth. We offer effective and safe bleaching options that can be used at home. Once we have made you bleaching trays, you are able to use these for many years if upkeep is needed.
Bonding
Bonding is a term that refers to using a “filling” material to recontour a tooth or fill in gaps between teeth. The advantage of this method is that very minimal tooth preparation is needed, if any.
Invisalign
Many patients benefit from teeth straightening. Aside from beautifying the smile, having straight and a properly aligned bite can help prevent gum disease, cavities and tooth fracture. Properly aligned jaws protect our teeth and jaw joints as well.
Gum Lift
Sometimes a small amount of gum tissue may be trimmed using a laser in order to address uneven gum tissue or help teeth appear a little longer. At times it is also necessary to visit a specialist for a procedure called “crown lengthening,” which also helps recontour underlying bone to attain a more dramatic esthetic change.
Botox
OnabotulinumtoxinA, known as Botox, is used for esthetic and functional purposes. Botox softens expression lines by relaxing underlying muscles for 3-6 months. In our office we use Botox to soften forehead lines, glabellar or “eleven lines,” and crow’s feet. Botox may be used in very small doses around the lips in order to help more lip and less gum show when smiling, reducing a “gummy” smile. Another important use for Botox is for pain management from grinding and clenching. By placing Botox in the muscles of mastication, or chewing, we can reduce pain caused by these nighttime habits and simultaneously protect the teeth and temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that are used to augment facial volume and minimize the appearance of static lines. Common areas of placement are lips and perioral lines such as upper lip lines and marionette lines. We seek to provide natural and seamless results, which typically last for 6-9 months, and sometimes longer.
